Chief Operating Officer

Doctor of Epidemiology with a background in Research, Public Health, and Clinical Science. I believe in strategic and organization planning, in people, and have been experience in project management. While my career is a search for truth, I have a focus on opportunities for Continuous Quality Improvements (CQI). I drove an ambulance during graduate school. As we dropped patients off in the Emergency Department I remember hearing: “treat ’em and street ’em.” I resolved not to think of patients or care as an assembly line… Rather, I truly believe we must be humble, we serve the community, listen with compassion, and aspire to elicit the best in others as well as ourselves.

My father is a Minister and mother is a Nurse. I absorbed from them a deep-rooted compassion for humanity. When I enrolled at the University of Minnesota, I was fortunate enough to apply for a research grant working in the labs of Dr. Douglas Wangensteen. Dr. Wangensteen was a professor in the department of Human Physiology and taught in the Medical School. He became my mentor, and my friend. For years he and I would meet for coffee at 7am every Friday. We’d talk about science, about current events, research, and medicine.
I enjoy taking a picnic on the pontoon and paddling a canoe in the Boundary Waters. I enjoy general aviation, learning to Scuba Dive, and sitting around a campfire with friends.
